After the crash, every road victim counts
Is the theme of this years’ Road Safety Week, running from 17th to 23rd November.
With more than 1700 people dying every year on UK roads and 30,000 people suffering serious, life-changing injuries – this years’ theme is focussed on counting the real cost of road crashes.

Brake.org run the UK’s biggest annual road safety campaign, bringing together communities and professionals to shout out for everyone’s right to make safe and healthy journeys on safe roads.
The aim of Road Safety Week is to inspire schools, organisations and communities to take action on road safety and promote life-saving messages.
This years’ theme is designed to:
- Raise awareness about the profound impact road crashes have on all those affected.
- Campaign for sustainable funding and equal care for road victims.
- Promoting safer roads and responsible driving.
- Reducing road accidents and saving lives.
- Supporting families who have experienced a road death or serious injury
- Shine a light on the incredible efforts of those who provide assistance to road crash victims.
Every life on our roads matters, and every death and injury is preventable.
Road Safety Week gives us all the opportunity to remember people killed or injured on UK roads, and raise funds to help Brake care for road victims and campaign for safe roads for all.

Throughout the week, Brake will share the voices and lived experiences of road victims, and showcase the work of its National Road Victim Service, which provides expert emotional and practical support to thousands of bereaved and injured families during their darkest and most difficult times.
Brake said that whilst the numbers are “shocking”, “road casualties are not just statistics. Behind every number is a family in turmoil.” They are showing the real life impact behind the numbers and are “ calling for the very highest standard of care for every road victim”.
